Hydurage PDO lifting threads are designed for lifting tissue on the face and body and for their collagen-stimulating properties. PDO threads are resorbable (dissolve over time leaving tighter ‘scar’ maybe use ‘repair’ tissue instead as they often produce Type 3 Collagen tissue behind to prolong the result.) The threads are either smooth (monos) for improving skin texture or consist of barbs, cogs, anchors or screws to reposition the tissue. Production of the collagen in response to the presence of the foreign body(thread) and mechanical injury(by needle) stimulates and increases metabolism and blood flow to the treated area.

Mono PDO threads – these are the smallest threads without barbs, and they work by improving the skin quality by increasing densification. They are used for rejuvenation on the face and neck mostly. The suture is inserted into the skin up to the sponge. PDO Mono Threads or ‘short threads’ are designed to perform a revitalization skin treatment, beneficial for skin tightening, skin thickening and to improve skin texture thus reducing the appearance of wrinkles. Once inserted into the skin, PDO mono threads activate collagen synthesis to gradually tighten and rejuvenate the skin. This provides the skin with a tighter feel and appearance and more of a youthful look. It uses needle gauges from 27-30g.
Screw PDO threads – this type of suture is inserted into the skin with a rotation technique and secured by the two sponges. By generating abundant collagen around the screw, it is able to replace commonly used dermal fillers in the market. Screw threads can come in the form of one or two threads intertwined together around the inserting needle. Screw thread has a great effect on giving volume effect on sunken area of the skin. Screw threads are usually used for general face-lifting. The PDO screw-type all come with a 26g-29g needle.
