Course Content

MODULE 1: Laser Physics, Technology & Tissue Interaction
Before picking up a handpiece, every laser professional must understand WHY their device does what it does. This module lays the physical and scientific foundation for everything that follows. A practitioner who understands the physics makes better decisions in the room — selecting parameters with confidence, recognising complications early, and adapting technique to individual clients.

  • 1.1 The LASER Acronym & Core Principles
  • 1.2 How Lasers Work — The Active Medium
  • 1.3 Selective Photothermolysis — The Golden Rule
  • 1.4 Chromophores — The Three Targets
  • 1.5 Beam Delivery & Spot Size
  • 1.6 Cooling — Why It Is Not Optional

MODULE 2: Laser Safety, Regulation & Scope of Practice
Laser safety is the non-negotiable foundation of professional practice. Alexandrite (755 nm) and Nd:YAG LP (1064 nm) are both Class 4 medical devices. This module covers the regulatory landscape for non-medical laser professionals in the UK and USA, and the practical safety controls you must implement every session.

MODULE 3: Client Consultation, Skin Assessment & Contraindications
Thorough consultation protects your client, your business, and your professional registration. The consultation is not a formality — it is the most important clinical skill you have. Getting this wrong is the leading cause of adverse events in laser aesthetics.

MODULE 4: Clinical Procedures, Parameters & Technique
This is the practical core of your training. For each procedure, we cover the mechanism, device selection rationale, full parameter tables, technique, expected outcomes, and session planning. Parameters are guidelines — always start conservatively and work up.

MODULE 5: Adverse Events, Complications & Client Management
Even with impeccable technique and thorough consultation, adverse events can occur. The difference between a good practitioner and an exceptional one is the ability to recognise problems early, manage them appropriately, and know when to refer.

MODULE 6: Aftercare, Treatment Planning & Professional Development
Outstanding aftercare is the hallmark of a professional laser practitioner. It reduces adverse events, improves results, builds client trust, and protects you legally. This final module covers aftercare protocols, treatment planning principles, and your ongoing professional development obligations.
